The universe is not only stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine. As geologic wonders go there is nothing on earth like the wonders hiding in the American Southwest. Witness these bizarre rock formations.  South of Vernal, Utah, in the midst of an oil and gas-field wasteland of immense proportions, is a cleverly concealed, tiny valley called Fantasy Canyon. It contains rocks molded into impossible shapes.  My first look at this collection of rock formations left me speechless, which is hard to do.

If you can, plan a trip there soon. The rock formations are delicate and in this time on this planet delicate things tend to disappear quickly.
