Why blog?

Why indeed. It is time consuming, tedious, and requires a certain inventiveness that, at times, I just don’t have. Completeness, seems the obvious answer. A well rounded, robust, engaging website begs for a blog as a means of explanation about what’s going on in the numerous galleries. It allows me to carry the ball and run which ever way I choose. I can stand on the stage in a theater I built delivering my lines to an invisible audience or perhaps to no audience at all.

Since this is a photography website, specifically “my” photography, I hope to offer insights into what was done to or with some of the photos here, and how they came to be. It has been said, and I echo, that a photo as art should stand on its own. If it requires explanation it is incomplete and has failed as a means of communication or fallen short of its intended purpose. Imperfect art.  Is any art perfect?  Does such an adjective even apply to creative endeavor? We’re falling into the deep end of the philosophy pool with that one. Frankly, I’d rather not swim round in circles. I’m a photographer. I’d rather photograph the philosophers doing laps.
