I’ve a great friend who also happens to be a world-class Podiatrist who also happens to be my brother. A couple years ago he brought me a few very peculiar tree branches. The wood under the bark had been etched (by forces unknown) with strange alien-looking symbols.

“Might make a great photo”, he said. I agreed and placed them on a workbench for the moment. Moments and me being what we are, years passed – well, two anyway – until I rediscovered them under a pile of other interesting things that had also been placed on the bench. They were still peculiar but had somehow also become fascinating. Fascinating enough that I went to get the camera. I began my photographic exploration of the alien symbols. I’m doing it still. Here are a few images to tide you over while I continue the process. The final images should make a nice addition to my website galleries. More on that later.

This EDOF image is a photomicrograph, a super-closeup of one area of one branch about 2 millimeters on a side. The details are beyond unaided human vision.

The EDOF multi-image composition above contains over thirty images. The Scrollgram below uses thirteen of those images and changes focus as you roll your mouse across the frame.
